Change logo

Providing your own logo is usually one of the first things you need to do. Here you learn how to do it.

Add your logo to the site

  • Enter the Zope Management Interface (tack /manage on to the end of your Plone root URL)
  • Go to the folder portal_skins and then to the custom subfolder (this is where you should put all your customizations to avoid them being overwritten when upgrading)
  • Get a logo from sample logo
  • Use the Add pulldown on the top right and choose Image (not File!) from the list
  • Enter the following:
    • Id: logo.jpeg a logo
    • Title: Whatever you want to be shown as the logo description
    • File: Browse your filesystem for a logo you want to add
    • Press Add

Congratulations, if you reload your Plone front page, it should show you the new logo. Beware of caching, use Ctrl-F5 to force-refresh if you still see the old logo. If that doesn't work, try emptying your cache and reloading the page. (Plone caches images and CSS/Javascript heavily for performance reasons, so that's why you might have to do this).

Oh, and it doesn't matter what type of file you upload - GIF, PNG or JPEG - they will all work, as the logo.jpg is just a name, it doesn't mean anything for the actual file.

*Reviewer's comment: If you do not call your logo image logo.jpg you can use the logoName property after customizing portal_skins/plone_styles/base_properties instead to tell Plone what to use as logo.*
